What does it mean?

Mars in Gemini: gives energy that moves in spurts. The energies tend to get scattered in several different directions. Mars in Gemini can give stronger than normal arms though. The person who has this placement will likely be restless and, unless Saturn is strongly placed, lack persistence. Women with this position of Mars will tend to attract men who either move around a lot or talk a lot, or both.

Here is something written on Mars in Gemini by Allen Edwall:

Mentally and physically you are the busy, little bee. You are constantly in motion with many and various activities, usually several at a time. You are happiest when busy and you hate boredom. Your mind
is alert, active, and constantly seeking to learn more. You absorb knowledge like a sponge and you will debate and argue with anyone who wants a mental sparring match. A great deal of nervous tension or
anxiety can exist with this position and it is important that you get regular exercise to relieve the stress. You talk with your hands and may be ambidextrous or have mechanical ability. There is a need to think before acting and to have patience so that you keep yourself out of trouble. Sometimes you just do things for the sake of doing something and this is not always a good idea. Look before you leap.
Travel appeals to you because you never know what you might learn or who you might meet. Burns or accidents can occur to the shoulders or arms, probably due to haste. You can accomplish a lot in short bursts, but projects that require long-term commitment, stamina, and steady, persistent effort are not easy for you. You often scatter your energies into so many directions and activities at once that you
cannot finish or follow through on some of them. You need variety, change, and mental challenges. Your mind is sharp and you enjoy mental challenges, games, or competitions. Matching wits with someone else
really brings out the competitor in you. Your drive and energy is more mental than physical. You use your wit, intelligence, communication skills, social sophistication, and awareness to achieve your goals. Sarcasm and humor come easy to you. You need to learn how to conserve energy so you don't burn out and concentration so you will complete projects and carry through on promises.

<Mars in Gemini can give stronger than normal arms though.>

Ha, ha, that's funny. I am simply stronger than I look and if my arms are strong arms it's cause I do so friggin much with my arms, and hands especially: massage, bread making, jewelry making, and sculpture.

Wow, I've just been reading up on Mars in Gemini. So much is true regarding my son, it's uncanny. He's got Mars in Gemini in the 5th house. He's also got major upper body strength and does Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, works a lot with children and he's an actor. Crazy stuff this astrology...

I totally see the working with children and actor part to be 5th house related.

My sun, mercury, and and pluto are all in the 5th house. Being a virgo, some of what I make, such as jewelry, is intricate and detailed, but my puppets, costumes, and certain other crafts are bold and brightly colored, tactile, and childlike. Kids generally love my fabric art. Especially the puppets.

Well, I have mars in gemini in the first house, add to that venus and rising (conjunct mars) in gemini as well, basically I am a nervous freak, that talks fast and does 50 things at once but almost never follows through on any of them. Never a dull moment.

Pretty dead thread, huh? Whattya think, any chance of reviving it?

So. Mars in Gemini. I have Mars in Gemini! I also have Jupiter in Gemini, Sun in Gemini, and Mercury in Gemini. Guess you might say the thrust of my energy, my raison-d'etre, my mental processes and the nature of my generosity and abundance factor are united in pursuit of communication and the building of the noosphere. This Gemini stellium is distributed over my ninth and tenth house area, elevating this purpose over all else in my chart--yet where you'd expect to see me out engaged in lively debate like a good little extrovert or at a blackboard teaching somewhere, I am the quintessential extreme introvert and prefer to make my contributions to the noosphere through the medium of the computer. I have always written; computer literacy, coming a year ago in middle age, has been a godsend . Undoubtedly a Pisces Moon, exactly squaring the Sun and conjunct the 7th house cusp from the 6th house has a lot to do with my solitary nature, as does Virgo rising, which seems to counterbalance Gemini's often superficial and dilettantish habits with solid earthen purposefulness, respectable research skills, attention to detail, precision in expression, and an uncompromising disinclination to offer my train of thought to derailment and interruption.

And yes: two of the men who have been in my life have been talkative. One, the horror writer, actually wielded over his thought processes and expression a format-intensive protectiveness similar to my own, and could hold forth not in paragraphs but chapters. Another, the overnight stock handler, simply doesn't ever shut up, and he tells the same stories repeatedly.

C'mon. I want to hear from more Mars in Gemini types!

      ok I'll bite
or more like... fall into the Briar patch.
Mars, Jupiter, and Sun in Gemini. but oddly enough my merc. is in Taurus so I don't think I can keep up with the likes of you Briar. But it's all in the 12th house, so I'll dig a little deeper.
I have Virgo moon, squaring my sun
      and a cancer asc.

guess the pisces moon keeps you inside, and what a gift that is cause I
gotta say ""Moving too slow to be measured by the eyes of man, the Great Meat Glacier pushed inexorably south.""
had me smiling ear to ear.

      and "the scrape
      Of steel on stone"
made me think of one of my favorite poets Billy Collins

      hmm..

Well, now here's another Moon-square-Sun Gemini! I'm writing to another one over in the Gemini tribe ( in the Pisces Moon thread.) That's an intense aspect! And it involves your 12th House (and 3rd, I think?) and your 12th House is quite heavily tenanted--so I think you've got kind of a solitude thing going on there, too, or a dream thing, or an alternate reality thing. Must be where the magic comes from. The 12th House Mercury is said to bode very well for writing. Jeanne Avery, in "Astrological Aspects--Your Inner Dialogues," says you probably do your best thinking in solitude. And she offers another interesting tidbit--how chapter-and-verse it is, I cannot attest: while most people, under hypnosis, have the right brain activated, for 12th House Mercury people it's the left! In case you ever wanna haul out the electrodes and bring in the researchers and check it out. . .

Well, it isn't that Pisces Moon keeps me inside, so much--I love the outdoors and I have my garden and all. What it keeps me is the hell away from parties and the public and the inexorable crush of trivial yap! Just always have preferred to do my people thing via the written word. Solitude frees me to shape it the way I want. Have enjoyed a lot of it lately because my work is kind of seasonal and I've been on hiatus for a couple of months. Should be going back sometime late this month, so I'm cramming as much writing into each day as I can while I have the opportunity. And that meat glacier thing--that's some of the most glorious captioning I've ever read! The whole site and the book it's promoting, just keen-edged and off-kilter funny. God! what I wouldn't give to write like that !

And how kind of you to compare some of my writing to a recent American poet laureate! When you mentioned Billy Collins I went Googling. I'm not real familiar with Mr. Collins. I read a number of his poems. Didn't see a lot that reminded me seriously of my own stuff, but I did find one I wish I'd written--"Another Reason Why I don't Keep a Gun in the House." It has a barking dog and I'm a dog groomer, see, and. . .well, I found it wry and apt. Guess Collins has been on "Prairie Home Companion" more than a few times too. One hell of a nice show.

Saw your photo album. Some wild stuff there! Added a comment to "Fire Wallet." Couldn't resist!

<<What it keeps me is the hell away from parties and the public and the inexorable crush of trivial yap! >>
yep, thats exactly what I meant by 'inside'. what a time saver it is for you!
Now.. I like the parties, looking for big meaning in all the trivial yap, figure it was the 12th house gemini thing and probably that venus in aries in the 11th ("oohh look, something shiny over there") but also maybe that thinking thinking reasoning moon, busy busy mind, making it's comparisons and checking it's perspective over and over and over.

actually it was that particular line in your poem that brought up Collins. -the scrape of metal on stone. a particular poem of his about death and gardening and passing thoughts. Picnic, Lightning:
"the heart, no valentine, decides to quit after lunch.......the brain a monastery, defensless on the shore." but it's the sound of the rasp of steel edge against stone that stays with me forever. yeah, theres a lot of his stuff I'd wish I'd have written. I know that 'famous barking dog solo' yep, he is quite a wit.

a dog groomer, wow, thats a gas. do you wear a jumpsuit and big gloves and goggles? I'm picturing suds everwhere..

loved your comment, yeah, that is a magician and a strange man indeed.

Picnic, Lightning--That is one hell of a powerful poem, and though it seems so unfussy on the surface, it's going to bear more than one reading. There are some symmetries of image in it that I like--nature can kill us, manufactured stuff can kill us. Meteor, plane. Lightning, falling safe. Outside can kill us, inside can kill us. The nature inside suggests the manufactured stuff outside--heart, power switch; blood clot, ship; brain, monastery.

Then he's got all these death-feeding-life images--compost, which is what dead things become; wheelbarrow, which recalls a hearse. Long boxes--can you see coffins there? And the flowers, themselves "limp," pressed into rows--the layout of a cemetery, exactly.

Then death's presence makes all things more crucially bright and beautiful by contrast, more to be appreciated, even the flowers seem to sing--and here's the kicker: time's STILL inexorable, and too bad if the guy's in his garden to bargain at forgetfulness--time's betrayal has been driven home so effectively even the sundial might as well be clicking away like a clock. Because sundials normally don't "click," do they? Well, they will for the laureate's poor sod, from now on, won't they? That is virile, clean, cruel writing. Wonder if Collins has Mars in Gemini?

Oh my god--I see what you mean about the steel on stone! Well--great minds think alike. . .

Dogs. Sometimes big BBQ style gloves, for handling the biters. Goggles would be more for grooming cats. (I love cats. I have cats. Do I groom cats? The emphasis on that NO is best left to the imagination!) No jumpsuit, because with all the floor dryers going it's god-awful hot in a grooming shop. Usually a tank top--nylon, it dries quick. 'Cause boy howdy, is dog bathing wet. Not so much soapy--dog soap doesn't lather all that much, and it's easy to rinse. But doggies like to stick their heads out of the tub. And doggies like to lunge over the edge of the tub. And doggies like to shake manically in the tub. A veritable cascade, a little Victoria Falls with every pooch. Water goes everywhere.

Sometimes dogs "go" everywhere too. Especially certain breeds. Groomers have renamed the cocker spaniel, you know, the breed is now known as the caca spaniel. One groomer site had a boisterous essay about the cocker grooming experience. You know me, I admire the well-turned phrase--one reference I especially remember from that site was to a "giant fecal plume." A bearded collie took a big dump on my shoulder one time. Kept wanting to sit down on the grooming table. I was holding him up with one arm and shoulder while fluff drying with the other. Bearded collie: mediocre IQ, state-of-the-art poopies. I think it's the Mars in Gemini that makes me see the humor in situations like that. Humor helps in dog grooming. So does a touch of Virgo. My Ascendant, your Moon. Do you have a doggie?

I am pleased that you appreciate his work too!
              yes yes.
I think I should try and find out his natal chart.

<<< I think it's the Mars in Gemini that makes me see the humor in situations like that. >>>
maybe, but I think its more the Jupiter! makes everything bigger and more fun. and sees the opportunity for reward everywhere, even in those dismal situations, yeah, like when a goofy collie takes a dump on your shoulder. LOL!

yes, humor always helps, and I could see how a touch of Virgo helps too, like pruning, or trimming people's hair, or taking a toothbrush to the damn grout if you're in the right mood.
...or you know, gotta clean off the desk, and put away all the dishes, and go through all the bills and sort through the drawer and empty the recycling before you sit down and write the thing you're avoiding writing. yeah, like that!

I've got a dog named Daisy, I didnt name her, she was rescued from the pound, they said her name was Daisy-mae, well I couldnt do that one but grudgingly accepted the name Daisy.
She's a mix of probably german shorthair and heeler and what not. kinda dainty feet with a semi-bobbed tail. that sticks out hard like a little dildo- funny shape. I think she should have a little old lady hat and maybe a pocket book. She is afraid of strange men unless shes out and about and then open to all petting.
But the house is ruled by the cats, well one in particular, who has slowly grown into his dominance. Even the dog will stand back and wait for him to pass.
              ha!

My mars and Venus are in Gemini...and if having Mars in Gemini means I attract talkers then it's right on! The Pisces I'm currently talking to (or should I say listening to) won’t shut up!!! Truthfully I love every minute of it...he’s actually quite fascinating ;-)
